This product is inspired by the morel mushroom that grows all over the United States. In the summer of 2021 I visited my Aunt and her family in eastern Oregon and we went hunting for morels in the forest. Since morels grow very sporadically, it is such a fun experience to leave it all up to nature and keep your eyes open for what you can possibly find. As an artist, intuition is a tool that I find deep fulfillment in using as I create work. The spontaneity and intuition that is required for hunting morels is what I employed while carving and glazing the designs of these bowls. Morel hunting teaches me to embrace the unknown, and find excitement in it, just like testing glazes in ceramics. I used Tea-glass and Val’s blue-black for the exterior of these bowls, and Coleman's magnesia matte for the inside.
